The Vintage Cupcake Kitchen & the Dovestone Reservoir

Constantly being on the go hopping from one big city to the other can be quite exhausting in the long run. So why not take the chance, hire a car and explore the outskirts!
This post is specifically about Manchester in the UK and the village Uppermill, which is still part of Greater Manchester. It only takes around 40 minutes by car to get out out of a busy and noisy Manchester and dive into peace, quiet and well, cupcakes.
But let's focus on the peace and quiet first. Close to Uppermill you'll find the Dovestone Reservoir which is already part of the Peak District National Park and the perfect place to breathe in fresh air, go for a walk along the water and be stunned by the incredible landscape around you. So close to Manchester, yet so calm and relaxing. It's definitely a great recommendation if you happen to have a car anyway and want to escape the city for a few hours or even a whole day. It is quite hard to reach it by train, but hiring a car for a day isn't too expensive either. Of course, walking around the reservoir is free, but who can resist an ice-cream or a stop at the Vintage Cupcake Kitchen in Uppermill?

Uppermill itself is an incredibly sweet and cosy little village with great Northern English architecture and a clearly laid out high street. Part of this high street is the Vintage Cupcake Kitchen, a coffee and tea room I can oh so recommend. Cute interior and cupcakes to die for. What else could you possibly want? All of the baked goods, which vary from cupcakes to brownies to amazing looking cakes, are homemade and not only that, but acutally baked in the open kitchen of the café. That means you can actually watch the girls baking away in the background which is pleasing to watch.

If you happen to be in or around Manchester some time soon, make sure you'll check out both of these places or even combine them! Nothing's better than a hot cup of tea and a bite of a PB&J cupcake after a long walk outside on a crisp autumn day.
